Emerald City - Tarsem Singh - PILOT ~ ☕☕☕☕

Hello everyone!

Today, I want to talk you about a series just began: Emerald City.
Just one thing before I start: they released two episodes as pilot so I will probably talk about both.
Well, let's start!

First of all, do not be fooled by the title: the show is not the “classical” adaptation of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
I have never read the novel so I cannot safely say if the book has been respected in its particular, but, based on what I read, saw and heard during these years, I think that it is loosely inspired by the novel. I repeat, loosely.
I am saying that especially for people who read and loved the book and who might hope this is the “perfect” film adaptation they were waiting for.

Anyway, having said that, I have loved this pilot!
The characters, the landscapes, the atmosphere in general immediately brought me in the magical world of Oz!
The characters are so interesting from the very first moment and after one hour and twenty minutes (due episodes, remember?) I was like “What? Is it just finished?? I want more!! I want to know about him and her and this!”...
You know what I mean.
I liked that The Scarecrow (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) is a man who totally lost his memories and I am so curious about who will be The Lion and The Tin Woodman.
The Witches... Guys, they are so... interesting! I know, I am just repeating this word, but... See the episodes and you will understand. They are so well-built and I really liked how the actresses played them!
Then, there is Tip (Jordan Loughran), the “surprise”. I noticed – through the comment on TV Show Time, the app I still recommend you – that a lot of people did not know if Tip was Baum's creation or not.
Well, according to Wikipedia, yes, Tip is an original character and it is so fascinating that you hardly ever find Tip in an adaptation. Who really is?
The only one who did not totally convince me is the Wizard (Vincent D'Onofrio), but we're just getting started, right? Hopefully he will be amazing in the next episodes, who knows.

About landscapes, what can I say?
They are just beautiful. Simply, purely beautiful.
About the direction and the script – as a profane – I can say only one thing: I loved them too, a lot.

So, I really really really really really really really really really really recommend this show and I really hope it will get better and better!
